Dr. Shobha Ravishankar has completed her MBBS and Diploma in Anaesthesiology in 1992 from Indira Gandhi Medical College , Nagpur . She has also done a fellowship in Paediatric Anaesthesia, ORBIS International, USA . From 1992 to 1998, she worked as a Consultant Anaesthesiologist at the Vijaya Hospitol – MIOT, Chennai. Since 1998 onwards she is a consultant anaesthesiologist at the Sankara Nethralaya, a unit of Medical Research Foundation, Chennai. She has a wide experience in neuro anaesthesia, trauma, critical care, pediatric anaesthesia, anaesthesia for orthopedic & vascular surgeries and anaesthesia for plastic surgeries.
She has presented many papers in various state & national conferences. She also conducts teaching programs for students undertaking allied courses with BITS, Pilani. She was the Head of Scientific Committee for the CME on Paediatric Anaesthesia & Medicine held at Chennai in June 2005. She stood 2 nd in the University examination held for DA in 1992. She was also awarded Lions Club Scholarship for the outstanding girl student. Her main interests include anaesthesia for Pre term babies and critical care.
