PH.D PROGRAMMES

The Institute is recognized for PhD programme under Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani and Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University .

The Ph.D degree programme was initiated in the year 1995 with affiliation to Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R University . Dr. A. R. Anand who was a CSIR fellowship recipient, registered under Dr. H. N. Madhavan was the first student awarded Ph. D for his research work entitled “ Evaluation of Molecular techniques in the diagnosis of infectious endophthalmitis” from Medical Research Foundation, Sankara Nethralaya.

Among the 85 MS-MLT students who passed out during the years 1998-2007, 18 of them have obtained their Ph.D degree (13 Ph.Ds from BITS, Pilani and 5 Ph.Ds from Universities other than BITS, Pilani).

Currently there are 26 students are pursuing their PhD. Among them 13 candidates are pursuing their Ph.D degree at Medical Research Foundation - 2 in Human Genetics and Molecular Biology, 4 in Biochemistry, 4 in Histopathology and 3 in Microbiology and 13 others in various other Universities in India and abroad.
