SN-CZ Center for Excellence in Medical Retina

In keeping with the tradition of promoting and practicing good ophthalmology, in association with Carl Zeiss, Sankara Nethralaya has started a "Center For Excellence In Medical Retina" with the objective of training general ophthalmologist in medical retina. This center is housed at 5th floor of H T Parekh Block, JKCN our new complex at 21, pycroft Gardens road, Chennai.

Features


  • Training in using basic diagnostic equipments such as- Slit lamp biomicroscopy with use of 78D and other contact and noncontact fundus lenses and Indirect ophthalmoscopy
  • Interpretation of Fundus fluorescence angiography (FFA)
  • Interpretation of Indocyanine Green angiography (ICG)
  • Hands on experience in performing FFA and ICG using digital imaging system
  • To familiarize with laser photocoagulation for posterior segment (Observation only).

  • Interpretation of and hands on training in performing Fundus fluorescence angiography (FFA) and Indocyanine Green angiography (ICG) using digital imaging system, ultrasonography, electro diagnostics and OCT.
  • Exposure to medical retina cases
  • Training to perform laser photocoagulation
  • Participation in research activity
  • The fellow also independently handles cross consultation to the medical retina department and performs lasers in the last 2-months.

     


Selection
Advertisements will appear in the hospital website, inhouse magazines. Interviews will be held once in 6 month to select 3 candidates for basic course and 1 candidate for advanced course for that period.

Eligibility
Qualified ophthalmologist

Candidates employed elsewhere should produce a NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE from the employer at the time of interview.

Stipend
Candidates admitted (for both Basic and advanced) to the course shall be eligible for a stipend of Rs. 5200 p.m.

Accommodation
Residential accommodation will be provided with nominal rent of Rs. 250 p.m. to those who are selected, subject to availability. While allotting accommodation preference will be given to out station candidates.

Leave
During the training period candidates admitted for basic course are not eligible to take any leave / examination. Candidates for the one-year course will be entitled to have 12 days leave, and are not eligible to take any examinations during this period.
