Laser refractive surgery (LASIK/PRK) is
a procedure to reduce your refractive error
after it has attained a stage of stability.
Post procedure your vision will be the same
as the pre procedure best corrected visual
acuity with either glasses or contact lenses.
If your vision with glasses or contact lenses
is poor LSAIK may not improve it beyond
that.
The procedure (LASIK) is a relatively painless
procedure and both eyes can undergo the
procedure on the same day. In case of PRK
you would experience some amount of pain
on the day of the treatment and you would
get operated one eye at a time. The second
eye would undergo the treatment after a
gap of 2 to 3 days.
In case of LASIK the next day itself you
will have reasonably good vision however
the stability might take some more time.
There can be a slight loss of contrast
sensitivity after the procedure.
Some people do experience glare and slight
difficulty in nighttime driving.
Some patients experience a little irritation
and pricking sensation in the eyes post
procedure which are secondary to minimal
dryness which occurs as the nerves get cut.
However the patients become comfortable
after a couple of months.
