Jaclok Community Ophthalmalic Center (JCOC)
Jaclok Community Ophthalmalic Center (JCOC) is one
of the Annexes of SANKARA NETHRALAYA situated at
21 Pycrofts Garden Road, Chennai – 6.
Jaclok Community Ophthalmalic Center is exclusively
for patients who are treated totally free of charge.
Any person with a family income of less than Rs.1750/-
per month is treated free, provided documents
supporting their income are produced as proof.
Screening camps with the help of Tulsi Trust,
a social service organization and Lion’s
Club are held in the rural area, after which the
much deserving are brought to this hospital, than
proper from rural areas to Jaclok Community Ophthalmalic
Center(JCOC) in our vehicle. These patients are
given breakfast, lunch, coffee and dinner free
of cost. Patients undergo a thorough eye examination
and if found fit for the operation, are taken
up for Cataract surgery. All patients are implanted
with intraocular lens in their surgery and we
take utmost care of such patients by providing
dark glasses after the surgery and we take the
patients to their villages safely in our vehicle.
One of our doctors goes to the village for the
postoperative check-up. Patients are again brought
to the hospital on their final check-up date wherein
glasses are prescribed after check-up. These glasses
are also given free of cost to patients.
JCOC Hospital has 2 Consultant rooms, 2 Optometry
rooms, 1 Slit lamp room, 1 Fundus examination
room, 1 Yag laser room and waiting halls for patients.
