A Distance learning Programme
for optical sales personnel
The Silmo Essilor Trust and the Medical Research Foundation, have come together to offer a correspondence course in "optical sales" for the first time in India .
World over, sales personnel have benefited from similar professional courses that give them technical knowledge and expertise about lenses and frames so that they can guide their customers towardes the right optical solutions
About the course
This course is called the Certified Course in Optical Sales and aims at improving the technical knowledge of optical sales counter personnel or anyone else interested in gaining knowledge in ophthalmic selling.
The program consists of 8 modules and the course is for 9 months . The modules will deal with specfic aspects of the eye, refractive errors, typess of lenses, optical selling and frames.
Candidates will be assessed on a continuous basis. Each module will carry a question paper that has to be answered and sent back for assessment. The contact classes would include hands on training with the latest instruments used in dispensing. At the end of the 8th module there will be a contact class followed by an exam. Only those who qualify will be given the certificate of completion.
