The department had its humble beginnings as a Cytogenetics laboratory in the year 1993. Since then it has achieved rapid growth with the inclusion of a Molecular Biology set up, and has evolved to the SNONGC department of Genetics and Molecular Biology. With state of art facility and infrastructure, extensive research in the field of ocular genetics has been carried out. Our areas of expertise include linkage analysis, association studies, whole genome wide studies [WGAS] and mutational screening.
